MBA/MHA - Dual Degree Program Master of Business Adminitration / Master of Health Administration
For many years there has been a debate regarding the preferred degree for health managers and administrators, the MBA or the MHA. This has lead many universities to offer a dual MBA/MHA so that prospective students may take advantage of the benefits of both degrees. AWU takes this advantage to a higher level by concentrating the dual degree in organizational leadership. The dual degree is 66 total credit hours. The curriculum is the same as the MHA but with a 18 hours module in applied leadership.
In the Applied Leadership Module, students will examine traditional leadership theories and principles for depth and understanding but the primary focus is on contemporary leadership thought and practice. This involves a series of self-examination processes as well as practical exercises in applied leadership. As part of the module, each student will develop a major project on applied leadership. AWU will work with the student to see that the work is published in the professional literature.
As with all our graduate programs, a team of professors will work directly with the student throughout the entire curriculum. From time to time additional professors and practitioners will be brought to the team for their specialized expertise.
